Be part of a world-class event

When will you stage a tobacco event in Germany? was a question often asked when the teams of Tobacco Journal International (TJI) and World Tobacco (WT) talked to exhibitors of regional trade fairs in other parts of the world. The answer is: in only two years from now! TJI and WT, who entered into a partnership in 2009, decided in favour of Europe’s biggest tobacco market to host the tobacco industry’s next big event. World Tobacco Expo 2011 will take place from 8 to 10 November 2011 in one of Germany’s most beautiful and exciting cities: Munich, home to the world-famous Oktoberfest. The response the two partners received upon the announcement of this new show was overwhelmingly positive. World Tobacco Expo 2011 combines the experience and commitment of TJI and WT to bring much-needed change and fresh ideas to this global tobacco exhibition.

Taking part in World Tobacco Expo Munich 2011 will bring your company a vast range of benefits. Generally, live events are an important part of any business and marketing strategy; how long would it otherwise take your team to see clients face to face? And how high would travel expenses be? Events make it possible to shorten the sales process and save money, and offer a multitude of sales and marketing opportunities. Where else can you sell one product and simultaneously launch another, whilst increasing brand visibility, networking with industry clients and prospective customers and keeping a close eye on what the competition is doing?

However, it is essential that you choose the right event for your purpose, and World Tobacco Expo 2011 is perfect for several reasons. First of all, it is because of the organisers: World Tobacco has been at the forefront of the tobacco exhibition market for over thirty years, and it can boast a lot of “firsts”, such as being the first to launch an international tobacco exhibition. Tobacco Journal International also has many years of experience in co-organising large, international tobacco shows accompanied by conferences; moreover, it is the leading international business publication for the tobacco industry. Together, the two partners combine decades of expertise when it comes to the organisation of successful trade fairs, and they provide the professional information platform to promote the event. For exhibiting companies this is an ideal match. Not only will exhibitors be able to reach their target audience during the Munich show, but they will also profit from regular reporting in each issue of TJI on the event many months in advance and in a special section of the magazine.

Naturally, the cost of exhibiting is always an issue WT and TJI have given this aspect a lot of thought. Being represented at World Tobacco Expo 2011 is an extremely cost-efficient way to display your products in a highly prestigious environment. Two exhibitor packages are available. If you book space only and make your own stand construction and design arrangements, you will only pay EUR 320 per square metre, while a shell scheme package will cost you only EUR 370 per square metre. The comprehensive offer includes stand space with fittings, inclusive of side and rear panels, power point, lighting, name board, desk and three chairs, as well as booth cleaning and unlimited promotional material available from the organisers for you to use as you wish.

State-of-the-art exhibition centre

The New Munich Trade Fair Centre is one of the world’s most modern exhibition centres and sets standards in functionality, service and communication possibilities. Opened in 1998, it is both spacious and flooded with light. The combination of glass, wood and steel on the one hand and lakes, green open spaces and trees on the other creates a harmonious overall impression. The highly functional facilities include efficient visitor and vehicle guidance systems, state-of-the-art presentation and communications technology and uniformly high-quality exhibition areas. Seventeen halls cover an exhibition area of 180,000 square metres. Each hall is situated at ground level and has daylight. Constructed without pillars and with a clear height of eleven metres, vechicles can be driven through the halls for stand assembly and dismantling. The centre is located very conveniently - only a thirty-minute drive from Munich Airport, the second-largest airport in Germany. Over 100 international airlines link Munich directly with all European capitals, the Americas and Asia. Thus, the world is on Munich’s doorstep. During international trade fairs, shuttle buses run between the airport and the exhibition grounds, which can also be reached easily by rail, road or underground.

Europe’s largest market

Having Germany as the location for the World Tobacco Expo 2011 is another advantage. With a total consumption of 124 billion cigarettes in 2008, Germany remains Europe’s largest market for tobacco products after Russia. Contrary to other developed markets, tobacco consumption in Germany has remained more or less stable. Indoor smoking bans are in place, but strong public opposition has led to the implementation of exemptions in several federal states. Germany is also home to some of the most important suppliers to the tobacco industry, especially in the field of engineering, for which the country has a long-standing reputation.

And, last but not least, Munich is one of the most important centres for trade and one of the most popular congress venues in Europe. . Companies with a worldwide reputation, renowned scientific institutes and innovative high-tech firms are at home in Munich. The city’s sound economic foundations are based on industry, trade and the service sector. Lederhosen and laptops, tradition and avant-garde exist in a state of symbiosis.

Munich is ideally placed to host a global tobacco exhibition of this kind as it sits comfortably in the centre of Europe, thus enabling exhibitors to attract a large number of visitors from both Europe and the world market. Munich is the capital city of Bavaria, the largest federal state of Germany by area. Within the city limits, Munich has a population of more than 1.3 million, making it the third most populous city in Germany. When it comes to art, culture, fashion, shopping, recreation and sightseeing, Munich is one of the most attractive cities in Germany. The English Garden, the Botanical Gardens and the Olympic Park attract thousands of visitors every day. What makes the city even more appealing is its proximity to the Alps, which strongly modify its continental climate.

Munich is also famous for its breweries and Wei§bier (wheat beer), a Bavarian speciality. There are around twenty major beer gardens in the city. Nightlife in Munich is thriving with over 6,000 licenced establishments in the city, especially in Schwabing, which is still Munich’s student and artist quarter. Among the most notable establishments is the famous HofbrŠuhaus, one of the oldest breweries in Munich and located in the city centre.

World Tobacco Expo 2011 will take place in Munich, Germany, from 8 to 10 November 2011 will be the most important event for your company that year. Being part of this show is a business opportunity you cannot afford to miss.

We look forward to seeing you in Munich in November 2011
